10/2/2016: Parts of our new website are still under construction. If you have reached this page, it means that the page you were searching for will be published soon. Here is a quick note on each of the pending sections:
This includes everything that happens from the time you finish your manuscript to the time it's for sale on Amazon, Apple, or your local bookstore. Just some of the tasks include editing, cover design, interior design, blurb/description writing, distributor accounts setup, and more.
Marketing. Your book won't sell unless you help people find it. We can help you make it easy for readers to find your book. We will help you create an effective launch strategy, make pre-order decisions, design your website, optimize it (SEO) so people can find you, craft a social media strategy and set up your sites, design and create marketing materials, and set up mailing lists using services like MailChimp and others.
Being an indie writer and self-publishing your book is a little like being a general contractor when building your house. It's a big project requiring a diverse set of skills. A general building contractor doesn't have to be a plumbing or carpentry expert, but she must hire and oversee people who are. Time management, project management, is the general contractor's most important skill.
The same goes for an indie writer. It will be difficult for you to ever become proficient at all the things you need to do to publish a successful, high-quality indie book. You have to be able to identify where you need help, hire the right "sub-contractors" to get the job done, and manage everyone so you publish on schedule.
People aren't born knowing how to be good general contractors (or project managers). Trying to coordinate the publishing of a book for the first time can be particularly difficult. We can help you create the initial project plan, hire the right sub-contractors, and monitor progress to be sure you publish on time.
A website will be the center of your marketing activities. It has to look professional and must have several key functionalities. Too many author websites are poorly built "buy my book" sites that serve little useful purpose. We can help you design and build a top-notch site that you can be proud of.
You're probably familiar, at least on some basic level, of social media marketing. We can introduce you to social media marketing done right. This may be a bit intimidating to you right now, but think of it: you can create a unlimited neighborhood full of potential customers--for free! We can help you choose the right social media outlets, set up your accounts, and teach you how to use them properly.
There is also software (Scrivener anyone? And others...) that can help you organize your writing projects and do so many remarkable things. Too may writers, however, miss the benefits because they're too intimidated to learn how to use the software correctly. We can recommend which software might be best for your personal situation and teach you how to use it.
We've noticed other indie coaching and advisory services who quote prices for a finished book between $15,000 and $50,000! If you feel like spending that much money to publish your book, please call our special hotline at 1-555-BIG-BUCKS right away! Kidding aside, we think that mindset is completely backwards.
A good general contractor starts by identifying how much money is available for the project, and then designing a plan to fit the budget. It's not supposed to work the other way around. A good project manager doesn't say, "come up with this amount or forget it." We will help you craft a publishing plan that fits your publishing budget. (Just write down the hotline number, 1-555-BIG-BUCKS, just in case you win the lottery, lol).
